Yarn Along:

Lucy's latest sweater is coming along nicely. I plan to finish up this skein, then knock out the sleeves. I'm hoping to find some buttons during our upcoming road trip.  Meanwhile I'm already plotting a garment for Sebastian out of the leftovers.

I barreled through a couple of chapters of Outlander, my sense of dread mounting. Since I had a chance to watch the final two episodes of the season recently, relying heavily on the fast-forward button, I was reminded in painful detail of what lies ahead. My tolerance for fictional torment has gone way down since having children.  I suppose I'm looking for reassurance about the rest of the series.

Beautiful sweater, such a great color.
I haven't read or seen any of the Outlanders series, but I keep hearing about it and have several friends who love it.

I love that sweater. Great color too. I am thinking of knitting something like that for my niece. I need to finish reading Outlander but kind of don't want to because I finished watching it so I guess I kind of know what's going to happen? If I was real good I would finish that AND the next one so I am ahead for the next season.

Love that sweater--such a great color.

Re: Outlander. I think it is one thing to watch something and another to read it. I had a much harder time watching episodes 15 and 16 than I did reading them in the book.

As for going forward. There is plenty of tough stuff that happens in the later books, but I think it is still well worth the journey. I found Breath of Snow and Ashes to be the most difficult and dark book to deal with because of all the stuff that personally happens to Claire in that one. I find all the books have a mix of difficult and delightful, which is part of the truth of them. Life isn't a fairy tale and I appreciate that Diana doesn't shy around the tough stuff, or sugar coat the impact or the long term implications of things that happen.

I find my tolerance for certain subjects is much less since having children--I really can't bear to read or watch certain things any more, but I've found Outlander continues to inform and give language to so much of my experience as a mother.

Anyway. A penny for the pond. I hope you can stick with it to the end!

I love that sweater, it is beautiful. I think we have seasons of life where something is OK and then it's just not. I've not read the books so no opinion there. Much love to you!

The sweater is so beautiful. I love the color. I'm kinda over books that are sad or tormented right now just into fun or happy or helpful. I think life should be fun and encouraging not depressing, ya know.

Love that colour! Since having my baby I can't face sad anything! I don't know if you've heard of Call the Midwife? I used to love it but can't watch it now for fear of sad story lines!
